  • My long 4th of July weekend ;)

    I feel so FAT!!!

It's a daily ritual for many of us-step out of the shower, look in the mirror, and think, "If only my thighs had a little less jiggle..." But nobody bashing hurts more than your self-esteem.

You can exercise and eat healthy all you want, but being hard on yourself about your appearance takes a toll on you well-being. Then again, changing your attitude is no easy task, because you've been conditioned to criticize your looks, whether you realize it or not. "Nobody's born with a negative body image. It's something we develop over time". Remember when your sixth-grade nemesis called you chubby? And how your momconstantly griped about your weight? These messages get burned into your psyche, and everything from roadside billboards to TV shows plays a role when you're growing up, telling you that slim equals happy and successful.

After lifetime of this kind of body-image brainwashing, it can be difficult to turn things around.

    weekend recap:

On Thursday, July 2nd, my husband and I went to Club Wet in Downtown San Jose with our friends around 10:30 pm. It was so packed and hot as hell after midnight. My girls and I had tons of fun as the usual. The music were not as good as Abyss but we still had a lot of fun.

On Friday, July 3rd, my husband and I had a day off so we went to kick it with our friends. We went to have lunch at Lion Plaza then we went back to Bao's house and watched Japanese horror movie, "1 Missed call 2." After we finished with the movie, we went to have dinner at Pho Ga Nam Giang on Tully and called it a night.

On Saturday, July 4th,  my husband and I went to have lunch at Grand Century with our friends, Anh and Tony then we went to a friends bbq. After the bbq, we went home to get ready for clubbin. We left to Club Abyss around 11 pm. The club wasn't that packed until 12:30 am. My girls and I had a blast at Abyss. The music were so freaken good...I dance from the beginning til the end nonstop and I was sweating like a pig.  Lol I had such an awesome time with my crew.

On Sunday, July 5th, my husband and I went to eat lunch with our friends at Paloma inside Grand Century. After lunch, we went to Santa Cruz beach and had an awesome time. The weather were just perfect for a nice long walk. After the beach, we went to eat dinner at Boda on Capitol Expressway and then bowling at AMF on Landes til 11:30 pm. I was so exhausted from partying hard over the weekend.  I went home and knocked out right away. I slept so good and had so much energy the next morning. I had such a wonderful 4th of July weekend and I hope everyone had a good one too.

    A Special Friend

Sometimes in life, you find a special friend.
Someone who changes your life just by being part of it.
Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop.
Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world.
Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship.

When you're down and the world seems dark and empty, your forever friend lifts you up in spirit and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.
Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times and the confused times.

If you turn and walk away, your forever friend follows. If you lose your way, your forever friend guides you and cheers you on. Your forever friend hold your hand and tells you that everything is going to be okay.

And if you find such a friend, you feel happy and complete because you need not worry.
You have a forever friend, and forever has no end.

  • Club Abyss & Father's Day

    What Is A Dad?

    A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
    but instead picks you up,
    brushes you off,
    and lets you try again.

    A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
    when you get hurt.

    A dad is someone who
    holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail...

Happy Father's Day Daddy! I miss u so much...

  • Lily's Birthday @ Club Abyss

I've received so many messages on myspace from random people asking me about how to get started in Physical Therapy program so here's a couple helpful tips:

How do you become a physical therapist? What colleges are best at physical therapy programs?

In the US, it requires graduation from an accredited program that culminates in a master's or doctorate degree. Most programs are competitive entry, meaning you complete a set of predetermined prerequisite courses and then apply for admission to a program. Not all qualified applicants will be accepted. There are usually several internships associated with the professional phase of the program which are usually unpaid and are arranged by the school as part of your educational program. After graduation, you will sit for a national licensure exam. I would suggest going to the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org and go to the education section for a list of accredited programs by state.

How competitive are graduate Physical Therapy programs?

Most programs are competitive entry, meaning that there are a set of predetermined prerequisite courses and grades (usually minimum of 3.0). However, just because one meets these minimum requirements does not mean that they are gauranteed admission. Historically, grades are the primary focus. For instance, where I went to school, minimum GPA required was 3.0, but realistically, average GPA of those admitted was over 3.6. Many schools are now allowing all students who meet the minimum requirements to come for an interview and possible writing sample. Sometimes, grades are leveled at this point...this gives people with a "slightly lower" GPA a chance for admission. How many students are accepted varies between schools. In many schools, 30-40 is the maximum where some larger schools may accept 90 students. The percentage of those admitted varies on application rates. Historically, many schools only accept 10-20% of qualified applicants. For instance, I went to a school where there were 350 applicants, but only 36 slots available. Yet, at this same school, there were only 48 applicants two years ago...theoretically making it "easier" to get in. Enrollments dropped for several years in the early 00s, but is steadily rising again. Finally, there are a few programs that have a "direct admit program." This means that students are accepted as a freshman are are elligible to stay in the professional phase of the program as long as they maintain a certain GPA as an undergraduate.

What is a good major to take before going into a physical therapy program?

    1. pre med or biology

    2. chemistry or biochemistry

Well there are many majors that you can take before you go for a graduate course in Physical Therapy. You could take Bachelor of Science first and you can focus on Biology, and Chemistry because all of this 2 courses you need to understand the basic of human Anatomy and Physiology before going further. You can also focus on Psychology. This is another major you can focus on first. Due to the fact that in the medical line. Many of the health professional do not take the time to understand or care enough for their patients that they see. Because they are preoccupied with their own problems and then misunderstands the problems of their patients. That is why in today's medical professional many are so poor in diagnosing their patients and provide the best medical support for their patients. Another part is that it is better to focus on what your patients really want you to answer when you understand the psychology of their thinking. This way it makes your job much more easier. In my health practice, I tend to do the psychology on my patients first to find out what is their main problems then get into their illnesses. This way, your diagnostic of their symptoms and cause will be more accurate and then you will see them more often for other problems they have then seeing them for repeated problems. If you see this is the way you want to go for physical therapist way of helping people, then this is what you should do. Think about it and make the right choice for your major. Choices are again: (1) Biology (2) Chemistry (3) Physics (4) Psychology (5) Kinesology

    PT School Admission

Admission to physical therapy programs is competitive; to get into your school of choice, focus on earning a high overall grade point average in college (above a 3.3 GPA) and volunteer or work as a physical therapy assistant. Some schools require up to 150-hours of clinical experience prior to admission.

You'll also need letters of recommendation from physical therapists or science teachers. In addition, most schools require a satisfactory score on Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

    What You'll Study

Curriculum varies from program to program, but in addition to the theory and practice of physical therapy, most programs cover:

    Basic medical sciences
    Biomechanics
    Neuroanatomy
    Pathology
    Rehabilitative procedures
You'll also gain plenty of hands-on experience in a clinical internship.

    Licensure

After graduating from an accredited physical therapy program you must then pass the National Physical Therapist Examination (NPTE). Upon passing the exam you will need to meet any additional requirements your state licensing board may have before they will allow you to practice.

Some physical therapists seek advanced certification in a clinical specialty, such as orthopaedic, neurologic, cardiopulmonary, pediatric, geriatric, or sports physical therapy. Others are certified in electrophysiological testing and measurement.

What do you like most about physical therapy?

Seeing a patient through a plan of care that leads them to greater quality of life. It's great to see someone feel better and perform their activities of daily living. Pain causes depression, and when you can ease the pain people feel much better. In a nursing home, just to have someone sit up on her bed and put her hands in her lap can be a huge success. I'm interested in working with the geriatric population.

What type of personality is a good fit for a PT?

You need compassion, a desire to work with people and help them. It's not about you, it's about the other person and what you can do to help them achieve their goals. You have to be patient. You have to continually want to educate yourself, not be complacent, but go beyond the expectations.

This journey is long and hard, but it's attainable for anyone. If this is your passion in life, continue to pursue it, no matter how old you are. I'm excited, I wouldn't do it otherwise.

    weekend recap:

On Thursday, June 11th, I went to eat crawfish at JT with my girlfriends, Mai, Khanh, Trang, and Kattie around 6:15 p.m. We ordered 1 lbs of crawfish for each person. *yum* The crawfish were surprisingly very tasty this time. I think there's more flavor and a lil' spice really help.

On Friday, June 12th, I stayed in all night to relax and catch up with my Korean drama, "That Fool". I sat on my ass for hours watching Korean drama on mysoju.com until about 1 a.m.

On Saturday, June 13th, Johnny and I went to Club Abyss for Lily's birthday. I had soooooooooo much fun dancing the night away with my girls. The music were so freaken goooooooood so I dance nonstop throughout the whole entire night.

On Sunday, June 14th, Johnny and I went to the movie with our friends and saw "Hangover" and we freaken love it! It's one of the funniest movie I've seen. *2 thumbs up* I laugh my ass off from the begining til the end.

  • Club Abyss & Chanel Spring/Summer Collections

How did you fall in love with Chanel?

I fell in love with Chanel the first time I laid my eyes on the black classic flap. I think it is absolutely amazing how the classic flaps are able to stay in fashion throughout the years. I couldn't stop thinking of the Chanel black jumbo until I went and purchased it. Then after I purchased my first Chanel, I just wanted more and more!! It has been a lil over 3 years since my first purchase and my collection already exceeds 59 designer bags and not counting accessories (wallets, suit cases, and etc)!   My husband is always making fun of me for my bag obsession. Constantly. I am pretty sure he secretly thinks I have utterly lost my mind. lol

    My favorite Chanel Spring/Summer Collections:

Which one should I get next??? Hmmm...????

    weekend recap:

On Friday, June 5th, I went shopping at Santana Row and bought a new burberry bikini for a pool party Sat. I didn't see anything that I like at Gucci or Louis Vuitton so yay. *clap clap* I'm trying to save money for another Chanel bag. Yup...I'm addicted to Chanel and I can't help it. lol After shopping, my husband and I went to have dinner with Annie, Anh, and Tony at Ta restaurant in Milpitas. This is our 2nd time at Ta and each time it gets better and better. The foods are very tasty and the service is excellent!  *two thumbs up* The waitress makes us feel very welcome and special. After dinner, we went to meet up with our other friends at Miss Cafe (Vietnamese coffee shop) and hangout there til' midnight and then we went to play pool at Edgee's. We got two tables and ordered hella beers and snacks. One of my favorite snack from Edgee's is their garlic fries. *drooling*  I can't wait to go back there just for the damn garlic fries. lol I think playing pool will be added to our Friday night routine with the crew from now on. lol

On Saturday, June 6th, Johnny and I went to have lunch with Sammie, Tony, and Anh at Grand Century. I ordered curry chicken and omg it was so disgusting.  I only took two bites and that was it. Anyway, we walked the foods off around Grand Century for a few minutes then we went shopping at Valle Fair mall and I did a lil' damaged. *wink wink*  After shopping, we went to kick it at a friend's house til' 4:30 p.m. and then we went to a pool party. I had sooooooooooo much fun in the pool with my yellow duckies and sipping on pina colada with pineapple. *YUM* After the pool party, I went home to get all doll up for clubbing. The weather was so nice and just perfect for a night out with my crew. My friends and I had tons of fun dancing our ass off at Club Abyss. We stand right infront of the huge fan the whole entire night so it feels so damn good when we work the dance floor. lol

I'm loving my new Nokia E71. It's the BEST phone yet.
